Description

Birmingham 1902 English hallmarked solid silver and leather double stamp case or box made by Charles Penny Brown.
This large sloped case still has the original Edwardian stamps displayed under glass to the silver top, including half penny and penny denominations, from early in the reign of Edward VII. This was made the year after Queen Victoria's death.
Size-2.5 inches wide by 1.75 inches deep by 1 1/8 inches high in back and .75 inches high in front.
Weight-80 grams.
The heavy silver and glazed top sits on a sloped red leather covered base.
When originally made, it would have been placed on any well dressed desk, and used on a daily basis in a middle class home.
With just some minor marks of use, in very good condition overall with very clear hallmarks.
This is a great gift for the collector of stamp boxes or novelty silver, particularly as this is a seldom found style.
