Description

19th century Victorian leather writing box by very famous London maker Sampson Mordan, who made pens, inkwells, writing boxes, and many unique silver and gold items.
High quality Moroccan leather exterior, as well as full leather interior, and a full length piano hinge shows the superior quality of the box.
Gilt brass plaque to lid with name of original owner.
Sampson Mordan Bramah type lock is present. There is no key.
Interior lid holds generous pull open leather paper folder, to hold stationary or important papers.
Size-13 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep, by 5.5 inches high.
Weight-2.4 kilos.
Condition is generally very good, with only some scuffs to the leather, and the clasp to the stationary folder is detached, but present. Needs new elastic piece to reattach it.
A very nice box to use for the storage of papers or stationary. Would look lovely on a desk. Made by a very collectable firm, this is offered at an excellent price.
