Description

Unusual Birmingham 1938 English hallmarked solid silver cigarette or card case made by Alfred Nathan Andrews and Harry Stanley Andrews trading as A Wilcox.
This large and very heavy case unusually has a very realistically modelled dog engraving to the lid cover, probably a setter, retriever, or spaniel standing in a farm field. The case also has chamfered corners, sprung catch, and the original gilt interior and retaining strap.
Size-4.5 inches long by 3.25 inches wide.
Weight-very heavy at 185 grams.
Originally meant to use for cigarettes, and still able to be used for that purpose, this also makes a great card case.
Wonderful for the dog or hunting aficionado, the collector of novelty silver, or those looking for an unusual gift.
With just some light marks of use, in very good condition overall.
Please also see a number of other card cases newly listed from the same collection.
