Description
London 1804 English hallmarked solid silver salver with shaped cast and applied shell and scroll edge, made by Abraham Peterson during the reign of King George III.There is a lovely engraved design to the centre sides of the tray, and the whole stands on three cast feet.
This was later beautifully personalised to centre as a thank you gift in 1843 to a Mrs. Beresford by The Cottagers of Aylestone, with a charming engraving. As this was very expensive at the time, she must have been a highly regarded person.
Size-overall 7.5 inches diameter at widest points, by 1 inch high. The interior diameter is approximately 5.5 inches.
Weight-235 grams.
A very pretty 207 year old small salver to use for a set of claret, port or sherry glasses, to serve finger foods, or to display a decanter. Also, it would be lovely to use on a desktop for business cards or the like.
